About Mohamed
Beyond elite competition, Mohamed has earned global recognition for his extraordinary endurance feats. He has swum across the Strait of Gibraltar, completed the legendary Marathon des Sables across the Sahara Desert, competed in the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, and became the first—and still the only—adaptive athlete to earn the coveted black t-shirt at the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon in Norway. Mohamed’s journey to elite sport was anything but conventional. He received his first functional prosthesis at age 20, rode a bicycle for the first time at 25, crossed Morocco’s Atlas Mountains at 26, and completed his first marathon at 27. Alongside his athletic achievements, he earned a degree in Business Management, built a professional career, and is now a proud father of three.

This June and July, Mohamed will undertake his most ambitious challenge yet: the Triathlon Across America: Coast to Coast. The historic journey will see him swim 28.5 miles around Manhattan Island, cycle 3,000 miles across the United States from New York City to Las Vegas (with approximately 100,000 ft of elevation gain, riding across 16 U.S. states), and run 350 miles from Las Vegas to Los Angeles to finish at Venice Beach—becoming the first athlete with a prosthesis to attempt such a feat and the first to carry out a triathlon across America in this manner. The challenge will raise funds and awareness for the Challenged Athletes Foundation and Save the Children, two organisations that have played transformative roles in his life. Today, Mohamed continues to inspire audiences around the world with a message rooted in perseverance, possibility, and purpose. Through sport, advocacy, and storytelling, he demonstrates that limitations are often opportunities for innovation, courage, and growth.
